Harry Ungar is an emeritus faculty member in the Chemistry Department at
Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, CA. He retired after 30 years of
teaching and two years as a Program Officer at NSF. Currently he
leads a team that is developing an accelerated, integrated science
curriculum for unprepared students to bridge them into standard
community college science courses. He loves to travel, as you can
see in the photo from Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.

Mary K. Boyd was appointed Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in July 2008. Prior to coming to USD she was Professor and Chair of Chemistry at Georgia Southern University from 2005-2008 and a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Loyola University Chicago from 1990-2005. She serves on the ACS Committee on Minority Affairs, the Council on Undergraduate Research and the Executive Committee of the ACS Division of Organic Chemistry. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, design and spending time with her family.

David Brown is a Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Science program at Southwestern College (SWC), a Hispanic Serving Institution in Chula Vista, CA (suburban San Diego). In addition to classroom teaching, his professional endeavors at SWC have been focused on developing an active undergraduate research program, along with establishing a chemistry-based technician education curriculum to provide well-qualified entry level professionals for the local industry. In his spare time he enjoys camping, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and standing on his head in unusual places.

Tom Higgins has taught chemistry at HWC (one of the City Colleges of Chicago) for 11 years. His professional interests include integrating Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Leaning (POGIL) into the community college class room and exploring ways to engage two-year college students in authentic undergraduate research.
For fun and relaxation, he enjoys playing the guitar, playing floor hockey, and saving puppies.
